Notes for instruction:
Some of the questions on this game board are a little challenging so we recommend using it as a way to review and end a unit on weather. Due to the amount and the range of questions we believe this activity should be completed as a class with the students broken up into two or three groups (depending on size of class). This game creates a fun, engaging, and interactive way to reinforce concepts and information learned about weather. Higher order thinking questions below are designed to be used after this activity, for student reflection on the process.

Higher order thinking questions, with hypothetical student responses below:
-
If you could create your own jeopardy board what questions would you include? Student answers will vary. Examples:
-
Have pictures of kids and ask what season they are dressed for.
-
Have one category be to act out different types of weather like a tornado.
-
-
Do you think Jeopardy is a good way to review what you have learned? Is there a different way that you would use? Student answers may vary. Examples:
-
I would rather draw examples of different weather and make a book.
-
I would rather have played by myself than in a group because I didn't get to answer as many questions.
-
I liked the game and want to use it for other things.
-
-
What are some differences between a tornado and a hurricane? What are some similarities?
-
Tornadoes start on land and hurricane start over water. Scientists know why hurricanes lose power but no one knows why tornadoes stop. Hurricanes are easier to keep an eye on, and that makes them easier to escape from. Tornadoes can come quickly with little warning. They both have very strong winds. They are both very dangerous.

-
How can knowing these facts about different types of weather be helpful in your daily life?
-
Knowing about different types of weather can help me decide how to dress for the day.
-
It can help me to be safe in dangerous weather like hurricanes or snowstorms.
-
-
Using the information gained from this game create a story about your favorite type of weather. Student answers will vary. An example:
-
Once there was a little girl who waited all night for snow. When she woke up in the morning there was snow everywhere. She put on her boots, hats, coat, and gloves. Then she went outside to build a snowman with her mommy and daddy.
